David F. Barry papers, 1910-1932 [manuscript].

The collection contains both original correspondence and copies of correspondence conducted between David F. Barry and two of the collectors of his Indian photographs: Albert W. Johnson from Marine-on-St. Croix, Minn. (original letters) and John Kleinschmidt (photocopies or transcripts). In addition there are copies of correspondence between Barry and Elizabeth Bacon Custer (General Custer's widow) and, among others, Colonel William A. Graham. Barry letters often contain details of his experiences as a pioneer photographer.
